Our Mission
“The Cancer Support Center exists to provide strength, guidance, and support to anyone impacted by cancer — whoever and wherever they are.”
Since 1990, the Cancer Support Center has been a place of healing, connection, and hope for individuals and families facing cancer across the south suburban Chicago area.
Who We Serve
A Community Built Around You
The Cancer Support Center serves anyone touched by cancer — patients at any stage of diagnosis, survivors rebuilding their lives, and the family members and caregivers who stand beside them every step of the way. We recognize that cancer affects the whole person, not just the body, and that healing often begins with feeling truly understood and supported.
Emotional wellbeing, social connection, and access to reliable information are just as vital as medical care. That is why our mission is grounded in meeting people where they are — providing a warm, judgment-free environment where no one has to face cancer alone.
How We Help
Our Mission in Action
01
Support Programs
We offer a comprehensive range of free programs designed to address the emotional, physical, and social dimensions of a cancer experience. From counseling and stress management to fitness, nutrition, and body image support, our programs meet participants where they are on their journey.
02
Community Connection
Isolation is one of the most painful parts of a cancer diagnosis. The Cancer Support Center fosters a genuine sense of belonging through support groups, shared experiences, and peer connection. Our community reminds every member that they are seen, valued, and never alone in their fight.
03
Guidance & Education
Knowledge reduces fear. We equip our participants with trusted, accessible information through educational workshops, networking opportunities, and one-on-one guidance. Empowering people to understand their options and advocate for themselves is central to everything we do.
Our Values
What Guides Everything We Do
At the heart of the Cancer Support Center is an unwavering belief in human dignity, compassion, and the power of community. All of our programs are offered free of charge, because we believe that financial circumstances should never stand between a person and the support they need. We are guided by inclusion, respect, and a deep commitment to walking alongside every person we serve — for as long as they need us.
We Are Here for You
Whether you are newly diagnosed, supporting a loved one, or navigating life after treatment, the Cancer Support Center is here for you. You do not have to face this alone — and you never will.
