A True Champion for the CSC Community
Jim Kvedaras’ connection to the Cancer Support Center is rooted in both personal experience and a deep commitment to service.
Now in his second term as Board President, Jim brings not only decades of leadership, but also a heartfelt dedication to the Center’s mission.
His journey with CSC spans more than 20 years, marked by consistent support and transformative impact.
His involvement began in the early 2000s, shaped by personal loss. After his mother-in-law passed away from cancer in 2001, Jim became more aware of the emotional and practical challenges families face. When his own mother was diagnosed and later passed in 2006, he discovered the Cancer Support Center and its mission.
At the time, he was working in public affairs and helped secure grant funding for the Center. That professional connection soon evolved into a personal calling when he was invited to join the board in the late 2000s.
Since then, Jim has held multiple leadership roles, including two terms as Vice President, each paving the way to his role as President. His leadership is grounded in empathy and a deep understanding of what it means to support those affected by cancer.
“The heartwarming stories I hear from participants motivate me to continue to be as strong a board member as possible.”
Jim believes the Center’s strength lies in its people—staff, volunteers, and supporters—and sees his role as ensuring the organization remains strong and adaptable.
His advice to anyone facing a cancer diagnosis—or supporting someone who is:
“Just come into one of our locations. We’ve got you from there.”
He also encourages others to get involved—not only as a way to give back, but as a way to strengthen the community.
“A stark reality of the world we live in is that many of us will either experience cancer firsthand or know someone who has.”
By reaching out to the Center and joining the mission, individuals can make a meaningful impact.
“By sharing your talents and personality, you are directly helping many others.”
Jim Kvedaras is more than a board president—he’s a steadfast advocate for the CSC community. His story is a powerful reminder that turning personal loss into purposeful action can lead to lasting change.
Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply sharing the Center’s mission, every step helps build a stronger, more hopeful community.
Let Jim’s journey inspire your own.
